Mental Health Awareness

July is Disability Pride month. We take this month to bring awareness to the resilience and contributions of people living with disabilities, including those individuals who have invisible disabilities. As someone who lives with an invisible disability, I understand firsthand the importance of self-care, mental wellness, and finding healthy ways to manage life's stress and challenges. That's one of the reasons I created a coloring book for adults. I call it Mandalas for Mental Health - A Coloring Book for Stressed Adults. This coloring book contains 33 mandalas, based on geometric shapes, floral patterns, and sacred geometry. Both the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic recommend adult coloring books to help reduce stress, and a 2022 study indicated that coloring therapy combined with conventional therapy could better alleviate anxiety‐depression symptoms, enhance positive moods, and reduce negative moods in patients with generalized anxiety disorder. Coloring books offer a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe, and care for yourself.
